My builds prioritize my dog kennels. I'm so glad I did too. I was in a rollover accident in my SUV and the Ruffland Kennels definitely saved their lives and they came out of it uninjured. So when I got my van I made sure to have space for an additional kennel (I didn't have all my dogs with me in the accident and I'm so glad).
Hi! I’m currently 16 living in England and am planning to do vanflife after university, and travel all around Europe. This video was suuuper helpful for me and as a girl having a dog was a definite yes for safety reasons. I was just wondering what dog Eliza is- I’ve been doing research on what dog breeds are the best and it would be really useful! 😊
This is so so so helpful. I'm planning a van life launch and have 5 little dogs that I want to bring along. It will be crazy but you made me feel better about caring for their needs.
I really don’t understand anyone who lives in a van or anywhere without a dog…if they are not allowed then l do not want to go there..l have 3 dogs..yes..too many ..but l will home them rather than the other..l live in a house…but will be camping this winter with the dogs…love how you look after Eliza..she is so pretty and a good size…take care
My dog looks just like that when she behaves like that her name is Luna the only thing that's different is that she has a brindle coat and she's half Ridgeback and my dog got a baby tooth taken out too .
ive always wanted to live in like a mini van but I have a senior yorkie and I work 8 hours a day with an hour break what can I do during the summer when its to hot? i was thinking like a mini ac unit with a solar power box???
I am a retired Animal Cruelty Investigator of 18 years. Your tips were spot on correct. Let me just add a bit more information. UGH, right?! Dogs do not sweat. They pant, and they cool themselves through the pads of their feet. That is why a lot of dogs put their paws in their water dish. The normal temp for a dog is btw 100° and 102.5° Anything above 102.5° is considered a temp. You can lower their temp by submerging in cool water or putting paws in cool water or ice chips. Next, having a protection dog. Their is a BIG difference btw protection and aggression!! You have done a GREAT JOB with that one!! Your dog greets strangers happily, yet she warns you against danger or possible danger. People should properly correct against unwarranted or over aggression. This is so very vital during training. You want to be able to trust your dogs' que's to danger instead of not knowing if the dog is just being aggressive because another dog is near. You have a gem, and you two are GREAT TOGETHER!! You can trust her to do her best to protect you, and she knows you will do your best to protect her!! Now that the trust is deeply ingrained, you two can enjoy your vanlife to the FULLEST!! Again, YOU HAVE DONE A WONDERFUL JOB WITH HER!!
I couldn't imagine my life without my best friend beside me! Sure, you have to adapt and change when you have a dog living with you, and you might not be able to visit everything you want to, unless you put your dog in a boarding kennel, but taking your pup places you can both enjoy sure makes life worthwhile!
Your alot better off not going to Nat'l parks, see ( missing 411) also have protection for yourself and her 50+ years in Security I know what"s out there BE SAFE you both!!
I'm a beat up old ER doctor, got a van lately to roam the inner Rockies where I used to work. I've had six goldens. Angels…..thank you, very much, you get it. The canine is the highest life form on the planet.
We are getting a van so do you mind providing a link to the bowls and the collar light. I saw a couple that used I-bolts to attach the end of a lease to the floor somehow (a raised portion). Then they attached a short leash so the dog could move. The best way is to provide a crate, but a van makes that difficult. I have seen collapsable crates but, if your pup is like mine, he prefers to move during travel.
Thanks so much for sharing the vet tips! I'll look into it because I was worried about that too. As for a seating solution, I see people cutting memory foam to fit in the space between the driver and passenger seats for their dog to lay on. Then they'd put a large pillow case over it.
Bathing the dog without polluting the environment or putting undue stress on a limited in-rig water supply? Recommended water tank size for regular dog bathing?
I love your dog ❤! She is always so chill and laid back. Being a single female on the road, the chances of someone messing with you are alot less when u have a large dog on your side.
I literally have 5 dogs and 4 cats, 2 guinea pigs, 4 birds+2 parrots, 12 fish indoor aquarium, 6 horses, 3 goats, 638 diary cows, 426 sheep and 1 tarantula I brought from aye zoo as I love spiders 😊
Getting ready to pull up roots and hit the open road with FOUR large dogs. Been waiting for the oldest to pass away but apparently she's decided to live forever. She's 15. A staffy mix. 66 pounds. Its going to be interesting! Loved your video! Be safe and be well.
Great Puppy Aptitudes test i love and recommend everywhere I can is the Volhard Puppy Aptitude Test. I love it cuz it tests the dog on a variety of things so you can really know is this a hunting dog, a guard dog, a social dog, a service dog, a strong willed service dog.
Its testing scales of traits so you can really pick out the dog that's right for what you're looking for and what the dog is good at vs saying "this dog smart or this dog dumb".

How do you keep the pet safe during heat and cold!
I am curious if they put her on antibiotics before the extraction? And this is awesome I am starting vanlife with my dog in a couple days 🎉

I can not imagine moving into a vehicle with a dog I was not already very familiar with. Traveling with a dog is great but that seems very risky.
How do I keep my dog safe while visiting cities??
?? While in the grocery stores n place they aren't allowed in??
What breed of dog is Eliza? Maybe i missed it but don't think you said x
Walking the dog is the best❤

Thank you for making this video and sharing your experience, this gives a really good idea to me on how it is to live with a dog in a van 🤝

PS, Elisa is spectacularly sentient and soulful.

Is that a Chesapeake Bat Retriever? I have the same thing that found me when I started my truck life journey. Amazing dogs

Hi Maddy! Do you meet other dogs on the road? So Eliza can play 🙂
THANKS FOR THE LOVE
Heyu where did you buy the dog bowls, I'm trying to find them but can't and would love them!

i’m planning on living in a caravan with a dog when i’m older and travel as and when we want, i think that life style seems AMAZING! ❤
for traveling you can kennel train her without the kennel feeling like a trap but a home
You lucked out with Eliza, she has the perfect temperament for your lifestyle.
How do people leave their dogs in the van when they go to work?
