Why do they always wanna sniff the business though 😳 glad you mentioned it bc they do this & I thought it was a me thing. It happened with a friends dog every single time and I really worried that I had a tumor or something that I didn’t know of yet
I'm a small dude I'm just 5'3 I love dogs. I helped train my friends Rottweiler. It was hard for me to push him off and took a lot of acting like I was bigger but now he listens to me doesn't jump on me when I come over. He walks good on leash for me. He does like to give me one hug and kisses when I first get there lol. Do you think it would be ok for me to own such a big dog myself. Ik it's different owning then just coming over and visiting.
Having them sniff fists is better than open hands. If they do go for your hand, they can do a lot less damage when your hand is balled up than getting a hold of fingers. This is speaking from experience working at a shelter and having to handle nervous and aggressive dogs.
Bs 🤦😂. Ive greated dogs tge way he said not to my whole life. Many people have been very surprised that their dog allowed me to pat them and some have said that no stranger has ever been able to do that. He's talking rubbish!
I generally don't go into dog's personal space, unless I know the dog quite well to say they'll be okay with it. I usualy just stop and chek wheter they will want to come to me on their own. If not, then okay…have a nice day. If they do, I will lower one hand to let them sniff. I pet only if they clearly show they want the affection. Just think of it a bit as greeting another human being. You probably would be preplexed if a stranger just came up to you and started snuggling with you out of nowhere. xD
I've always been taught to approach a dog calmly with my hand palm up so they can smell me and decide for themselves if they want my attention. But ONLY if they seem interested NOT stand off-ish. Gotta respect the dog. Also, was taught to ignore the dog if they jump on me.
As someone who is absolutely deathly afraid of dogs (have been attacked and needed stitches 4 times)
How do you go about not being timid or afraid meeting a big dog when my body tells me to freeze and panic and want to cry? Like I don’t know how to get my head out of that space. I would like to work on my fear of dogs so one day I can have a big dog. I’m just not sure how you do it?
Anytime a big dog comes up to me I immediately freeze and almost start crying
As someone with a fearful dog, it’s so hard to get people to understand that he prefers to be ignored. He would happily exist as a ghost to the world being able to move through it and experience it unseen.

Open the gate, my dog would have left the premises 😂
Yeah kinda hard to ignore a 160 pound beast sitting in your face 😂😂😂
😂😂😂
How to greet a dog?
Ignore the dog.
But don’t be dominant.
But you have to show you’re the biggest dog in that room.
